John Lydon'south Trump Support Leaves Sexual activity Pistols Fans Feeling Rotten

Johnny Rotten aka John Lydon has been open up near his support for Trump and Brexit for some time at present—but fans of the Sex Pistols and the old punk legend are still disappointed.

Lydon, 64, has long been associated with agitator views and he'south managed to get people talking over again.

A tweet showing the "God Save the Queen" singer wearing a pro-Donald Trump 'Make America Great Again' T-shirt has gone viral on Twitter this calendar week, with one erstwhile fan decrying his idol's political views.

The tweet, which has been liked more than 18,000 times reads: "10 year old me is absolutely gutted that this is what his hero turned into. John Lydon, about every bit punk as a game of golf. Big f***ing poser."

Podcaster and satirist Blindboy Boatclub of the Rubberbandits fame retweeted photos and asked: "How does this happen to a person? He was a working course Irish lad growing up in London. He'south been vocally anti purple. His f***ing autobiography is called 'No Irish, No Blacks, No dogs'. Is it money? Is it historic period? He's been an eejit for a while, but this is bad."

Another person quoted the tweet with a quote from Dark-green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong who has criticized Lydon in the past.

They wrote: "Billie Joe Armstrong had the best comment near the ethos of John Lydon and the Sex Pistols: 'I am the anti-Christ/Please purchase our trade.'"

Many online are questioning whether Lydon is wearing the MAGA shirt to be provocative and non because he actually supports Trump.

However, in a 2017 NPR interview, Lydon called Trump "absolutely magnificent."

"I think he's absolutely magnificent. He's a full cat amongst the pigeons," he said at the time. "It's got everybody now involving themselves in a political style. And I've been struggling for years to get people to wake up and practise that."

In the aforementioned twelvemonth, during a Good Morning Britain appearance, Lydon said Trump was a "complicated fellow" who had been "smeared" by the "left-wing media."
